Dissociative recombination of atmospheric cluster ions

Research interests:

Dissociative recombination of atmospheric cluster ions: In the national facility CRYRING we study reactions between cluster ions and electrons. These reactions take place in some parts of our atmosphere. We determine the rate of the reactions as well as the products formed. A popular science description of the project, in Swedish, is found here .

Molecules on ice: In our laboratory, we study reactions between molecules on ice surfaces. In the atmosphere such reactions take place, and some of them are very important for the ozon depletion over Antartica. A popular science description of the project, in Swedish, is found here .

Atmospheric nucleation processes : In this project, we study the initial processes leading to nucleation into particles in the troposhere and statosphere. In a Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometer (FT-ICR MS), the stability of ternary clusters consisting of atmospherically relevant molecules are studied, e.g. H 2 O, NH 3 , H 2 SO 4 , HNO 3 , and organic molecules. A popular science description of the project, in Swedish, is found here .
